1st Indian International Deaf Film Festival at New Delhi

Film Festival for the Hearing Impaired

DEAF LEADERS India in association with the National Centre for Disabilities Studies (NCDS) of IGNOU and the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLTRC) organized the India Deaf Film Festival 2011 by celebrates the World Disability Day at convention centre in the University on 3rd and 4th December 2011.

The two day festival aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobility the support for dignity, rights and well being of persons with abilities, based on entertainment awareness and some facts related to deafness and its culture. Awards under categories like lifetime achievement, deaf women empowerment and best deaf business were given away in addition to awards for best director, best actor, actress, editing and film.

Hearing Impaired from 8 states were participated the festival. Fifteen documentary and short film were screened during the festival which includes film like” Parents with children” True & False and The Silent Song.

Prof. Dr. M. Aslam, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, New Delhi has inaugurated the film festival and distribute the prizes.
